Here's a handful of my favorite kids' books with female protagonists:

When my daughter turned 1, she was given "I Will Be Fierce!" by Bea Birdsong from our dear friend and it's been a beloved favorite ever since- showing small, lovely ways to be fierce.
"If I Had a Little Dream" by Nina Laden is the first book I bought for Flora when I found out I was pregnant. It's always held a special place in my heart. The illustrations are as whimsical as the story.
We were given "Extra Yarn" by Mac Barnett and the kids love reading the title phrase aloud with me. This is a creative story about having a generous spirit.

"Marilyn's Monster" by Michelle Knudsen is so darling... a tale about finding your own way and finding yourself too.
And a gift for Flora on her 5th Christmas, "Mother of Sharks" is the imaginative telling of the true story of the author. Melissa Cristina Márquez is a marine biologist who inspires many young girls (including mine) to fall in love with STEM and wilderness.
